Our Media Center

Welcome to the DPA Media Center:Where you can READ. CREATE. DISCOVER

Welcome to the DPA Library, where stories come alive, curiosity is encouraged, and every student can fine a place to learn, create, explore, and grow. Our library is more than a place to check out books. It is a hub for literacy, research, technology, creativity, collaboration, and discovery. Whether you are searching for your next great read, working on a class project, exploring new technology, creating something in our makerspace, or simply looking for a quiet place to read, there is something here for you.

At DPA, we believe every student deserves the opportunity to see themselves in a book, discover new perspectives, ask big question, and develop the skills needed to become confidant, lifelong learners. So come in, find your next story, try something new, and make the library yours. You belong here!

Mission Statement: The mission of the Dothan Preparatory Academy Library is to empower, inspire, and support students as readers, thinkers, creators, and lifelong learners by providing equitable access to diverse and engaging literature, reliable information, technology, and meaningful learning experiences.

We strive to provide a welcoming, inclusive, innovative, and student centered space where every student has opportunities to discover the joy of reading, pursue knowledge, explore new ideas, create, collaborate, and develop the skills needed for success in school and beyond. We envision a library where students are empowered to READ. CREATE. DISCOVER.

English teachers bring classes to the media center. When English classes are not scheduled, the library runs a flexible class schedule for other subject area teachers and hosts small groups. Mrs. Maybin also uses time to manage the school's technology and perform library administration duties. The library is always open for students to come in and check out books with a hall pass. If you want to see what we are reading, and what is going on at DPA's Media Center, visit our website.

Online Library Catalog:

We have a web-based library catalog system called OPAC.  Access OPAC to see what books Dothan Preparatory Academy has to offer.

Alabama Virtual Library:

The Alabama Virtual Library provides all students, teachers, and citizens of the State of Alabama with online access to essential library and information resources.  It is primarily a group of online databases that have magazines, journals, and newspaper articles for research. Through the AVL, an equitable core of information sources is available to every student and citizen in Alabama, raising the level of excellence in schools and communities across the state.

If you enjoy the benefits that AVL brings to your school, college, library, or home, please take a few minutes to thank your local legislators for providing this resource for the State of Alabama.
